This riveting coming of age saga is set in Portland, a beautiful parish on Jamaica’s north coast. Something happens to Runkus Black at Seashore Bay Preparatory School when he has his "Big Moment" in class. Double Trouble—two naughty boys and their five marble playing friends are up to no good! Their shenanigans are so bad that Runkus becomes depressed and gets into fracas.
Runkus's best friend, as well as the most brilliant girl in their class give him advice. However, Runkus is desperate to get away from school—to go on a cruise with his parents. Leadership responsibilities are thrusted upon Runkus. With dreams of clutching the coveted SBD Football Trophy, his identical twin cousins and even Double Trouble get excited. However, a new antagonist, Kennedy Edward Stephenson III (KES-III) from the renowned Mount Chandler Primary School rudely emerges into the picture. Runkus Black now enters Hillcrest Lagoon High School, which is still under construction. With dreams of lifting the coveted Stephenson Cup football (soccer) trophy, Runkus and some of his schoolmates find unlikely allies.
On his school’s trip to the renowned Castleton Academy, Runkus and his boys get a whiff of what high-school-football glory is all about. At Castleton Academy, great football plans are afoot for Runkus’s old nemesis, Kennedy Edward Stephenson III (KES-III), who is poised to win football trophies just like his currupt-media-mogul dad, his grandfather, and great grandfather—the legendary Emerald Stephenson.
Back at his so-called “lesser school,” Runkus and his boys are determined to do the impossible. Jade-Ann and her female classmates uncover the boys' plan, and get involved. However, Hillcrest Lagoon High has no football history, playing facilities, program, or coach. Momentum builds with a biennial scrimmage and juggling tournament as well as their school’s interclass football competition. Undoubtedly, showdowns, faceoffs, and setbacks occur, guaranteeing lots of drama and action. Will hard work, discipline, determination, and faith help them conquer giants and prove the doubters wrong?
Runkus Black and some of his teammates obtained scholarships and are enrolled at Kingston Metropolitan University (KMU). At KMU, the sporting arrangements are not what they thought it would be, plus the University is not known for its prowess in the intercollegiate football championship.
KMU’s Students’ Guild however, has some influence with football arrangements, but their limited support forces Runkus and his peers to become engaged in activities that senior students normally take on.
Surprisingly, Runkus’s old nemesis—KES-III and his teammates from Castleton Academy are also attending KMU. For the first time, both sets of boys attend the same institution. Overzealous senior football players, and the freshmen vie for a place on the football team.
Old rivalries, fraternities, jealousies, politics, seniority, and grudges are hurdles that stand in the way of unity. Underhanded tactics are employed, battles are waged, and sparks begin to fly. How do these issues get resolved?
